charles g. lamoreaux, Fire Chief

Chief Lamoreaux, a member of St. Andrews Fire Department since 1999, holds a Bachelor of Science in Fire Science Administration and a Masters of Science in Leadership in addition to a host of technical certificates, including Fire Officer IV, from the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress. While holding the rank as Captain, Lamoreaux earned the Firefighter of the Year award in 2011. He served as the Assistant Chief of Training and Special Operations for three years before becoming Chief of the Department. Lamoreaux is a 2014 graduate of the South Carolina State Firefighter’s Association’s Leadership Institute and serves on the by-laws committee for the organization. He is a member of the Georgia Smoke Diver Association, an active participant with the South Carolina Burned Children’s Fund’s Camp “CAN” Do, and the local High School Injury Prevention Coalition.

brian rollinson, DEPUTY FIRE CHIEF OF ADMINISTRATION

Chief Rollinson started his career as a volunteer firefighter in Illinois in 1995. He became a career firefighter in 2000 with the Town of Mount Pleasant where he rose through the rank of Captain. Rollinson came to St. Andrews Fire Department in 2014 and acted as Captain until being promoted to Assistant Chief of Training in 2019. Rollinson has been a member of South Carolina Urban Search and Rescue since 2004, and he currently serves as the planning section Chief.

Fire Marshal

Kevin Berkel, CHIEF Fire Marshal

Kevin Berkel began his firefighting career in Pennsylvania as a volunteer in 1981. He served as an Aircraft Rescue Firefighter before transitioning to law enforcement, where he retired as a Sergeant after 22 years of service. After moving to South Carolina, Berkel acted as Fire Sergeant for the Folly Beach Fire Department. He began his career with St. Andrews in 2014 and promoted to Captain of Inspections, Investigations, and Fire Prevention in 2017. Berkel was lauded with Officer of the Year Award in 1999, the Life Saving Award in 2003, and Firefighter of the Year Award in 2016. Berkel is a certified Fire Marshal, a member of the International Association of Arson Investigators, CPR instructor, Traffic Incident Management instructor and Car Seat Installation Technician. Berkel earned the rank of Chief Fire Marshall in 2022.
